 I will NOT shut up
Back to Full Blog

Barack Obama and his liberal allies are on the verge of implementing a socialist takeover of all healthcare, which is over one-seventh of the U.S. economy.

Without rationing, the program cannot succeed.  Canada has such a system and patients there spend months waiting for MRI’s, appointments with specialists, and much-needed chemotherapy and surgeries.  And in some cases, medical care is simply denied.

This plan is nothing more than a clever ruse to eventually abolish private health care in America.

The arrogance and deceit of Obama and the Democratic leadership are unbelievable.  In their frenzy to control every aspect of our lives through socialized medicine, they are behaving like thugs.

An increase in public awareness has resulted in increasing grass-roots opposition to the bill so the Democrats have ratcheted up their bullying tactics and deceit.  The people who are showing up in droves with righteous anger are exercising the very type of bottom-up citizen protest and government watch dogging our Founding Fathers envisioned. They are not the artificially driven phonies the Democrats are depicting them to be.

Our self-styled bipartisan president is telling them to shut up, while his partners in crime, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her colleagues are calling them un-American and Nazis.  Mr. President, Why don't you and Nancy Pelosi go to these town hall meetings and rallies and watch elderly senior citizens be helped out of their vehicles and into their walkers to stand in the hot sun.?  Watch the veterans who served in Europe, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq.  Look them in the eyes and call them Nazis or angry mobsters, if you can.

It is unwise for the democrats to denigrate and insult the thousands of fired up citizens that come to town hall meetings.  Those thousands represent millions and they will remember on Election Day.

President Bush didn't tell Democrats to shut up when they claimed that Republicans wanted to starve old people and school children. You know, back when they used to tell Americans on a regular basis that an increase in spending was really a cut if it was not as big an increase as Democrats wanted.

He didn't tell them to shut up when they said Newt Gingrich wanted to let Medicare “wither on the vine” when he actually said “…we believe that it's going to wither on the vine because we think [seniors] are going to leave it voluntarily.”

He didn't tell them to shut up when they made all the accusations of “blood for oil” during the debate over the war in Iraq.

He didn't tell them to shut up when they said that “Bush lied,” when he said he believed Saddam Hussein possessed WMD, even though every leading Democrat politician had claimed the same thing.

It is hard to listen to Democrats squeal with indignation about their freedom of speech being stifled when they control the White House and the Congress, and when in the past, their supporters are the ones who did so much to crush conservative dissent.

Remember when conservative author and columnist Ann Coulter had two pies thrown at her during a speech at the University of Arizona to College Republicans?  There are many examples of conservatives being denied the right to speak at public universities by liberal protesters, in some cases due to violence or the threat of violence.

When former Colorado congressman Tom Tancredo tried to speak at the University of North Carolina  on the issue of in-state tuition for illegal immigrants earlier this year, “Hundreds of protesters converged, shouting profanities and accusations of racism while Tancredo and the student who introduced him tried to speak.  Minutes into the speech, a protester pounded a window of the classroom until the glass shattered, prompting Tancredo to flee and campus police to shut down the event.”

After eight years of protesters hanging George Bush in effigy, calling him a Nazi, disrupting conservative speeches on campuses by taking over stages or throwing pies, creating websites and movies that wished for Bush's death, and a myriad of other indignities.... I hardly think they have reason to complain.

Having said that, I do believe everyone should be allowed to publicly express their viewpoint, and everyone should be allowed to peaceably protest as well.   The Dixie Chicks had every right to express their opposition to the war, their dislike of President Bush and their contempt for their conservative fans, but those fans also had the right to boycott their concerts and stop buying their music.
